Men's Basketball Sinks Coast Guard For First Win

Charles Mitchell led the Beacons with 29 points

BABSON PARK, Mass. – Led by Charles Mitchell (Boston, Mass.) men's basketball earned their first win of the new season as they posted a 75-66 victory over the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Sunday evening on the final day of the Babson College Invitational.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Mitchell now sits ninth in program history in scoring following his 29-point performance. The 29 points was the second most points scored by Mitchell in his prolific career. His career best mark is 34 points, which he recorded in his junior season.

On the night, Mitchell went 9-for-12 from the field, which included six 3-pointers and a 5-for-8 showing from the free throw line.

The Beacons never trailed in Sunday's contest, as they used a balanced offense to earn the nine-point victory. Mitchell led the Beacons in the first half with nine points, before erupting for the remaining 20 points in the second.

Stephen DiGregorio (Marlborough, Mass.) led UMB on the glass with six rebounds and finished in scoring with 12 points. Senior Malik Lorquet (Sharon, Mass.) had a consistent game scoring seven points, while grabbing five boards.

Madison Maloney led the Bears with a double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds. Garrett Drummond posted 21 points, while Tyler Perez finished second with 10 rebounds.
