BOSTON, Mass. – Led by 
Charles Mitchell (Boston, Mass.), men's basketball used a second half surge to down Bridgewater State University by the final of 79-48 Wednesday evening at Clark Athletic Center Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beacons outscored the Bears 40-29 over the final 20 minutes, with 
Bobby Joy (Harwich, Mass.) leading all scorers with 13 points off the bench. Mitchell finished with 11 points, while 
Stephen DiGregorio (Marlborough, Mass.) dropped in 10 to help seal the victory.
UMass Boston also converted the Bears' 24 turnovers into 31 points, including 20 in the second half.
The first half was a back-and-forth affair between the longtime rivals, with the Beacons earning a slim 30-28 advantage heading into the break. The Beacons would maintain a slim lead through the opening minutes of the second half, but with a 3-pointer from 
Malik Brooms (Roxbury, Mass.) the Beacons offense started firing on all cylinders.
In less than a minute UMB's lead erupted to 18, following a lay-up from Joy. They would then push their lead to over 20, as they continued to move the ball over the court.
On the night, Mitchell finished 10-for-20 from the field, which included a pair of 3-pointers. In 18 minutes of playing time, Joy was nearly perfect going 5-for-6, with one three. DiGregorio grabbed eight rebounds, with three coming on the offensive glass. Brooms, also had a solid night as he scored a career-high 10 points.

- Charles Mitchell moved into eight-place in program history for career points. His 27 points helped him pass Charles White ('84) for eighth (1,175 points).
