Southern Maine Downs Women's Hockey In NEHC Play

Beacons drop a 1-0 contest to Huskies

GORHAM, Maine – A Georgie Snow power-play goal in the second period lifted the host Huskies of Southern Maine to a 1-0 New England Hockey Conference win over women's hockey Friday evening at USM Ice Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Along with the lone goal from Snow, goalie Haley McKim made 24 stops to earn her first shutout as a Husky.

The Beacons, had their best chance of the contest in the second period when Cailey Kozich (Wexford, Pa.) carried the puck into the attacking zone during a breakaway chance, but was stopped by McKim.

The Beacons held a slim 12-11 advantage in shots in the second period, and finished the contest with a 24-23 lead in shots on goal against their longtime conference foes.

Snow's game-winning tally came off of a pass from Maddy Young. The junior forward made a cross ice pass to Snow, who then fired a shot from the slot to beat Victoria Kennedy (Winthrop, Mass.).
