SALEM, Mass. – Women's hockey got back on the winning track as they scored a pair of goals in the span of a minute to earn a 2-1 New England Hockey Conference victory of Salem State University Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beacons used goals from
Kelsey Ryan (Burlington, Mass.) and
Emily Franciszkowicz (Oak Park, Ill.) to pick-up two points in the conference standings. Ryan gave UMB a 1-0 lead at the 11:53 mark on the power-play with
Cailey Kozich (Wexford, Pa.) and
Katie Leffler (Key Largo, Fla.) each picking-up assists.
Allie Reifler (Binghamton, N.Y.) assisted on the game-winning goal from Franciszkowicz at the 12:24 mark of the second period.
The Beacons could have added to their lead but had to settle for the two goals despite putting 25 shots on goal. Salem State did not record a shot in the period.
Salem State made things interesting early in the third period when they scored on a power-play goal.
The two teams each recorded 10 shots in the final period, with the Beacons holding on to earn the victory.
Victoria Kennedy made 11 saves to earn her second win of the year.
BY THE NUMBERS
- The Beacons finished the day 1-for-6 on the power play while Salem State finished 1-for-3
