PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Led by 14 kills from Amelia Murphy Rhode Island College downed volleyball by the final of 3-1 Thursday evening in a Little East Conference match at the Murray Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The host Anchorwomen earned a narrow victory to open Thursday's conference match. RIC would take advantage of three straight errors by UMB to clinch the 26-24 victory. UMass Boston wasted little time to tie the match at 1-1 with a strong comeback in the second set, as they rolled to a 25-16 victory. Unfortunately, UMB could not maintain that momentum, as the host Anchorwomen registered a 25-19 win in the third and a come-from-behind 25-22 win in the fourth.
Despite the loss, graduate student
Emilia Czapiewska (Saint Paul, Minn.) continued her recent hot streak as she tallied 19 kills.
Taryn Broughal (Branford, Conn.) picked up 12 kills in the contest and hit a solid .304.
Carsen Komminsk (Worthington, Ohio) finished with 36 assists, and had three kills to her stat line.
Ally Dean posted 15 digs to lead the Beacons defensive effort.
Marcelle Tiscareno (El Paso, Texas) had a consistent night on both sides of the ball scoring eight kills, while also finishing with two block solos and three block assists.
BY THE NUMBERS
- With her 36 assists, Komminsk is now needs 45 assists to move into a tie for second all-time in program history with 1,862
- Czapiewska's 19 kills was a senior high for the Minnesota native; She has now recorded 12 or more kills in the last four matches
- All-time UMB is now 19-25 against Rhode Island College
- With the loss, the Beacons saw their 17-match win-streak come to an end, which run from October 2007 through October 2019
