Box Score CASTLETON, Vt. – It was a career night for junior guard Charles Mitchell (Boston, Mass.) as the newest member of the 1,000 point club helped men's basketball to a 69-43 Little East Conference win and regular season sweep of Castleton University Wednesday evening at Glenbrook Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENED
On his first made field goal, Mitchell became just the 14th player in program history reach the 1,000 point milestone. The last Beacon to hit the career mark was Carl Joseph during the 2014-15 season. Mitchell finished second on the team with 14 points, as he went 5-for-14 from the field, which included two 3-pointers. Michael Boyd (Malden, Mass.) led all scorers with 15 points to go along with an impressive 11 assists.
Mark Munroe (Quincy, Mass.) continued his strong play as the Beacons continue to keep pace in the conference standings. The center grabbed another double-double as he finished with 13 points and 15 rebounds. Of his 15 rebounds, six came on the offensive glass.
The Beacons defense was also on full display in Wednesday's win, as they hold the Spartans to just 14 points in the first half. The Spartans shot a mere 16% from the field through the first 20 minutes, while UMass Boston poured in 41 points to take one of their largest first half leads into the halftime break.
Castleton put up a valiant effort in the second half but could not close the huge gap from the first half. The Beacons shot over 42% to close out the contest, while also leading on the glass with 15 boards.

- For his career, Mitchell now sits with 1,013 career points (13th all-time in total points) and is averaging 13.9 points per game for his impressive career
