HOW IT HAPPENED

Not only did Saturday's win mark the Beacons first regular season sweep of the Warriors, but it also marked their first home win since February 21, 2006 when they earned a 60-56 win on their way to winning the program's first-ever Little East Conference Tournament championship.

Mark Munroe (Quincy, Mass.) had his best overall game as the Beacons big-man as he registered his first career double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds.  Michael Boyd (Malden, Mass.) led all players with 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field.

UMass Boston came out firing in the first half and quickly took control of the lead as they jumped out to a 10-point lead following a made 3-pointer by Mariano Rodriguez (Burlington, Mass.).  ECSU would eventually erase the Beacons lead to tie the game at 30-30 with just over four minutes to play.

The Warriors would never lead in the first half as the two teams exchanged field goals over the next two minutes.  UMass Boston would have the final say before the halftime break, as Munroe and Boyd each drained a lay-up to make it a 39-35 advantage.

In the second half, ECSU took their first lead of the contest thanks to a Cory Muckle three-pointer in the opening minutes.  The largest lead for the Warriors came following a 4-0 run to make it 46-43.

UMass Boston would quickly regain the momentum and would ride a solid multi-possession lead to the final horn.  Sealing the way for the Beacons was a 3-pointer by Charles Mitchell (Boston, Mass.) with 30 seconds left in regulation.
