BOSTON, Mass. – Despite an impressive double-double from Dasan Cinelli (Boston, Mass.) men's basketball dropped their first game of 2020 as they fell to intra-city rival Wentworth Institute of Technology by the final of 61-55 Thursday afternoon at Tansey Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Cinelli grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds, to go along with 19 points in the non-conference loss.  Charles Mitchell (Boston, Mass.) was the only other Beacon to finish in double-figures as he dropped in 12 points.   

Trey Carrier and Noah Bice each recorded 17 points to lift the Leopards to their third-straight win. 

With nearly three weeks off from competition, the Beacons offense showed some rust as they shot just five percent from behind the arc.  They also struggled from the free throw line shooting just 33.3%. 

The first half was a back-and-forth affair between the two crosstown opponents with neither team gaining a substantial lead. 

In the second half, the Leopards used a late run to slip past UMass Boston, after the two teams continued to exchange baskets.

Of his 18 points, Cinelli recorded 10 over the final 20 minutes as he went 5-for-10 from the field.  He also grabbed nine rebounds, with four coming on the offensive side of the hardwood.

• With his nine points in Thursday's loss, Michael Boyd (Malden, Mass.) is now at 825 career points as a Beacon
