HOW IT HAPPENED
Playing their second game in less than a 24-hour window, men's basketball tried to take down one of the premiere programs in the region. Unfortunately, the Beacons legs could not carry them all the way through as Tufts used a strong second half to earn the non-conference victory after falling in the title game of the New England Big Four Tournament to nationally-ranked Babson College.
Brady was 5-for-6 from the field for the Jumbos, which also included a pair of 3-pointers. Michael Boyd (Malden, Mass.) was the Beacons top scorer as the junior finished with seven field goals. Malik Lorquet (Sharon, Mass.) grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds with three coming on the offensive glass.
Charlie Mitchell (Boston, Mass.) finished with 10 points, and was the only other Beacon to record double-figures.
The Beacons put together their best run early in the second half, when they cut the Jumbos nine point lead down to two. They would post an 8-2 run to make it 31-29. Unfortunately, the Jumbos would counter with a run of their own and quickly pushed their lead back to double-figures.
They would then seal the win in the final seven minutes of regulation to earn their third straight win over the Beacons.
Off the bench Tommy Burris (Dalton, Mass.) who was the hero in yesterday's win over Division 1 Holy Cross finished with seven points on 2-of-3 shooting from behind the arc. The freshman guard had two of the Beacons four 3-pointers.
