Box Score ASTON, Pa. – A pair of second period goals lifted women's hockey to their first win of the 2019-20 season as they defeated Neumann University by the final of 2-0 Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first period in which they outshot the Knights 11-1, the Beacons put their first tally on the scoreboard at the 3:02 mark when Kelsey Ryan (Burlington, Mass.) found the back of the net. Katie Leffler (Key Largo, Fla.) and Bri Colucci (Lancaster, N.Y.) each picked-up a point on the play, which gave the Beacons their first lead of the new campaign.
Still holding the 1-0 lead throughout the second period, UMass Boston got their insurance goal with 31 seconds left before the second intermission.
Hannah MacDougall (South Dartmouth, Mass.) scored her first collegiate goal on the power-play to make it 2-0. Erica Lunn (Kingston, Mass.) and Jane Ann Drill (Madison, Wis.) each registered their first assists.
The MacDougall goal capped off a 12-3 advantage in shots for UMass Boston. The third period was a back-and-forth affair with each team recording 10 shots on goal.
Caty Flagg (Methuen, Mass.) extended her shutout streak to 125 minutes after making 14 saves to improve to 1-0-1 on the year.
