HOW IT HAPPENED
Brooke Maggy and Olivia MacMillan each had a pair of goals in the conference win as Plymouth State ended a two-game skid. MacMillan got the Panthers on the scoreboard at the 7:22 mark of the second period. Maggy added a second for Plymouth State just over a minute later to take a comfortable 2-0 lead.
However, the Beacons responded and cut the deficit back to one with Cailey Kozich (Wexford, Pa.) scoring her first collegiate goal off an Emily Harris (Littleton, Colo.) assist. Unfortunately, the Panthers would head into the second intermission with a two-goal advantage thanks to a Maggy goal with less than four to play in the stanza.
MacMillon secured the win with 24 seconds left in the game on an empty-netter. UMB did manage to sneak in their final tally of the day with 12 seconds left, with Harris scoring her second of the year. Rachel Peacock (Billerica, Mass.) and Katie Leffler (Key Largo, Fla.) assisted on the play.
Emelie Lindqvist earned the win after making 30 stops, which was one short of her season-high. Caty Flagg (Methuen, Mass.) lasted just seven minutes into the second period, before having to leave the game. Senior netminder Alyssa DePippo (Pittsburgh, Pa.) closed out the contest for UMB and mad 11 stops.
