HOW IT HAPPENED

An early goal by Jane Morrisette (Pembroke, Mass.) got the Beacons day off to a great start.  The forward collected her second goal in less than 24 hours to give UMB the 1-0 lead.  Her tally, which was the third of the season came just 32 seconds into the contest, and was assisted by Emily Harris (Littleton, Colo.) and Arielle Gallucci (Warren, N.J.).

NEC, fresh-off of their first win of the year over Salve Regina, tied the score at 1-1 thanks to a Katie Donohue goal at the 13:02 mark.

Looking as if the score was going to remained knotted at one heading into the first break, the Beacons regained control of the contest, thanks to an Alli Bianchini (Sterling Heights, Mich.) goal.  The senior managed sneak the puck past Jackie Clark with just 33 seconds left before the break.

From there, UMass Boston would carry all the momentum into the second frame, as they scored a pair of goals in a three-minute span.  Rachel Peacock (Billerica, Mass.) made it a two-goal game, while Katie Barry (Abington, Mass.) clinched the victory with her second goal of the season.

NEC did everything in their power to try and get back into the contest over the final 25 minutes, but junior netminder Alyssa DePippo (Pittsburgh, Pa. remained solid.  The Pittsburgh native collected a total of 18 saves as she remained undefeated on the year with a 3-0-0 record.

Clark, who had to weather an early collision in the crease, played extremely well for the Pilgrims.  As the team's only netminder, she made 27 saves to fall to 1-3-0 on the year.
