BOSTON, Mass.—UMass Dartmouth ran out to a 21-4 lead and never looked back, in a road win over host UMass Boston men's basketball Wednesday night at the Clark Athletic Center Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Corsairs used their size advantage and a hot shooting night, to lead from start to finish against the host Beacons.
Hyde Park native Arinze Obiora posted a career-high with 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting to lead six Corsairs in double figures.
Fellow sophomore Nick Portelance posted a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds in 22 minutes. Chris Mendes (15), Joshua Imadiyi (15), Atakan Akcam (12) and Tucker Bouchard (12) all joined Obiora and Portelance in double-figures.
On the Beacons side, Dan Powers (Westwood, Mass.), Sam Freeman (Boston, Mass.) and Ty Lee (Boston, Mass.) were the lone Beacons to finish in double-figures. Powers finished with 17 points, seven rebounds and two assists, while Freeman tacked on 16 points and five rebounds. Lee, who did not play Saturday, finished with 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting.
UMass Dartmouth took a 12-2 lead before the first media timeout and pushed it out to 21-4 with 12:46 to play in the first half. By the break, the Corsairs had stretched their lead out to 46-23.
UMass Boston cut the deficit to 19 (52-31) with 17:05 left to play, but the Corsairs immediately pushed it back out to a game-high 29 points.
BY THE NUMBERS
- UMass Boston finished the night shooting 44.6 percent (29-of-65) from the field and 1-of-11 (9.1 percent) from distance. The Corsairs knocked down 38-of-77 (48.7 percent) of their shots and hit 8-of-13 (61.5 percent) of their 3-point attempts.
- Junior Maurice Magras (Medford, Mass.) made his season debut in the loss. He finished with five points in eight minutes of action.
- UMass Dartmouth improved to 49-7 all-time against the Beacons with the victory.
- The Corsairs 101 points marked a new season-high.
