HOW IT HAPPENED

The Beacons wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as Rachel Peacock (Billerica, Mass.) ended the scoreless draw less than minutes into the opening period.  Peacock would spark a four goal first period for the Beacons, with Julia Nolan scoring the second marker of the frame at the 11:44 mark.

Less than 30 seconds later, Kaleigh Beauregard (Gaylord, Mich.) recorded her team-leading eighth goal of the year off of an assist from Emily Harris (Littleton, Colo.), her second in the win.  Lizzie Aveson (West Covina, Calif.) closed out the scoring in the first as she knocked the puck past Nichols Lauren Bennett.

After the first intermission, the Bison turned to assistant captain Lindsay O'Connell to stop the bleeding.  The netminder would hold UMass Boston to just one goal over the final 40 minutes, as she recorded 28 saves.

The final goal from the Beacons came in the first three minutes of the second on the power play by Edy Moritz (Guilford, Conn.).  She would score off of a pass from Kateri McClellan (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.).  Setting up the play initially was Arielle Gallucci (Warren, N.J.), who found the McClellan wide open on the far side of the ice.

The Bison did end the Beacons shutout bid at the 8:36 mark when Margaret Ready tapped in her first collegiate goal off of her own rebound.
