HOW IT HAPPENED
Despite being outshot 34-12, the Beacons were fueled by Myette's game changing performance, as the sophomore netminder stayed strong for all 60 minutes. Moritz secured the win for the Beacons, at the 6:46 mark of the third period, as she knocked in her first career game-winning tally.
Assisting on the play was Kristina Bove (Medford, Mass.) and Kristen Embrey (Highlands Ranch, Colo.). Bove initially took the shot, which was saved but not stopped completely. Moritz picked-up the loose puck and rifled it home to give the Beacons the edge on the scoreboard.
UMass Boston actually struck first in the contest, as senior Jenny Currie netted her 13th goal of the year, and fifth in the last three games. Currie deked the goaltender on a great play and tucked it away into the right post to give UMass a 1-0 lead.
Embrey earned her first assist of the night on the play, with senior Alexandra Karlis (Denver, Colo.) also earning an assist on the play. For Karlis, the helper marked her sixth in the last three games, as she continues to lead the Beacons to one of their best seasons in recent history.
For Franklin Pierce, Karsyn Baker scored the team's only goal at 19:21 of the second period on the PP, which at the time tied the game at 1-1. Noelle White was handed the loss, as she made just 10 saves in Friday's conference game.
