HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beacons had to get over an early deficit, as the Bison scored on the power-play less than seven minutes into the first. Katie Jeter (Winthrop, Mass.) scored the equalizer less than three minutes later, and Alexa Cappione (Massena, N.Y.) but UMass out in front on a power-play score with 26 seconds left in the first.
From there UMass dominated all aspects of Wednesday's contest. Maren Brown (Brainerd, Minn.) and Currie would each find the back of the net in the second, while in the third Currie put the final nail in Nichols' coffin to seal the victory.
Rachel Myette (Pembroke, Mass.) was forced to make just 10 stops in the conference win, which keeps the Beacons in firm control of third place with only three games remaining in the regular season.
