HOW IT HAPPENED
A goal by Beauregard at 12:20 in the first period, gave the Beacons some much needed breathing room, as they pounded the conference rival throughout the opening frame. Beauregard would then notch her second score of the night, on a penalty shot, to make it 2-0 just 31 seconds into the third period. The final goal of the night came from senior Alexa Cappione (Massena, N.Y.) on an empty-net shorthanded play, which sealed the win for the Beacons.
For Myette, Friday's win marked the first of her college career as she improved to 1-1 overall. On the night, the Beacons defense limited the Bison to a mere 12 shots in the contest, while the offense pounded out a total of 59 shots. Since the start of the season, the Beacons offense has continually outshot their opponents, with Friday's performance marking their most successful showing of the young season.
Senior Alexandra Karlis (Denver, Colo.), continues to play some of her best hockey to date, as she picked-up a pair of assists in the conference win. UMass Boston played a complete game from start to finish, as they peppered the Bison on every opportunity. Sophomore Jane Morrisette (Pembroke, Mass.) was one of the Beacons busiest forwards totaling 12 shots on goal. Lizzie Aveson (West Covina, Calif.) was just as productive totaling 13 shots goal to help the Beacons offense maintain a consistent pressure.
Karlis, Beauregard, and Cappione each finished with a +2 rating in the win.
