Box Score BOSTON, Mass. – Led by a game-high 16 points from Stephanie Coro the visiting Anchorwomen of Rhode Island College (19-2, 10-0 Little East) remained undefeated in Little East Conference play as they defeated women's basketball (5-15, 2-8 Little East) by the final score of 70-43 Saturday afternoon in the Clark Athletic Center.
Coro's team-leading performance was fueled by 7-of-17 shooting from the field, which included one 3-pointer. She also made her only free-throw attempt on an and-1. Cynthia Gaudet recorded 12 points in the win on 4-of-9 shooting and also dished out three assists and picked-up two steals.
Freshman center Kirsten Morrison (North Reading, Mass.) recorded her 10th double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 boards. The 6'2" center was 4-for-13 from the field and an impressive 6-of-8 at the line. Four of her game-high 11 rebounds came on the offensive side of the court. She also recorded a game-high four blocks as well.
Lauren Perra (Taunton, Mass.) and Teresa Pina (Boston, Mass.) also finished in double-figures, with Pina scoring 12 points, and Perra 11. The two were 8-for-22 from the field, and 4-for-11 from 3-point range. Pina also managed seven boards in the contest, with Perra tallied two assists.
As a team the visiting Anchorwomen shot 39.7% from the field (27-for-68), and 31.6% from behind the arc (6-for-19). The host Beacons finished out the day 13-for-47 from the floor and 4-for-16 from 3-point range. At the line they were 13-for-17 overall. Rhode Island dominated the glass as the outrebounded UMass Boston 48-32.
Women's basketball returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to Southern Maine for a 5:30 p.m. conference game.
