Patricia Ryans was named assistant volleyball coach under Kaliopy Dalavouras in August of 2022.
Ryans comes into Beaconville as a former Division I two-sport athlete in volleyball and basketball at Mississippi Valley State University where she earned all-conference accolades in both sports her senior season and served as a graduate assistant coach following her playing days. Ryans began her coaching career at Crichton College in Memphis, Tennessee, back in 2007.
Following the 2010 season, she left Crichton to serve as a physical education teacher and head volleyball coach at Kingsbury High School in Memphis for three seasons.
Since then, the Connecticut native and her family moved back to New England for her current job as a Student Engagement Counselor at Excel High School located in South Boston. Ryans continued coaching Junior Olympic Volleyball, most recently in Hanover, Mass., with Alliance Volleyball and has coached in the Junior Olympic ranks for a total of 15 years.
In 2019, Ryans took over the Massasoit Warriors, leading them to a 17-5 record as the Warriors won the Region 21 Championship. Ryans was named 2019 NJCAA D2 Region 21 Coach of the Year, becoming the first person of color to win this recognition and only the second female since 1989 to receive the honor.
Ryans earned both a Bachelor of Science in Health, Physical Education and Recreation and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Mississippi Valley State University. She also holds an Associate Degree in liberal arts from Capital Community College in Hartford, Connecticut.
During her time in Memphis, Ryans also earned a second Master’s of Science degree in Education from Freed-Hardeman University.
Ryans currently resides in Randolph with her husband Ernie Ryans and two children, Justin and Jason.
