Jeffrey Swirka returns for his fourth year as an assistant coach for UMass Boston in 2023-24.  

Swirka brings a wealth of experience to the Beacons coaching staff. He has worked as a women's basketball coach for nearly 25 years, with most of his experience coming at the NCAA Division II and III levels. 

In his first season with the Beacons (2019-20), Swirka served as the lead assistant for former UMass Boston head coach Kristina Baugh. UMass Boston went 20-7 and earned the program's first two wins over nationally-ranked teams in program history (#25 Emmanuel College and #12 Messiah College). Swirka participates in on-floor teachings of skills and tactics, prepares scouting reports. 

His most recent stint came at Division III Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts. He spent seven seasons as the lead assistant coach with the Gulls (2010-2017) and led the program to seven Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament appearances and five trips to the ECAC New England Tournament. Swirka helped lead Endicott to a 2014 ECAC New England Championship Title and a trip to the CCC Championship Game in 2012. During his seven seasons with the program, the Gulls amassed a record of 116-81. 

Prior to Endicott, Swirka spent time as an assistant coach at Division II Saint Anselm College and Division III schools MIT and Wellesley College. 

Outside of working at the college level, he also spent the 2004-05 season as the head girl's basketball coach at North Reading High School. Swirka has also worked as a head and assistant coach for a variety of AAU Teams in Massachusetts since 2005. 

He also has served as the Senior Player Evaluator for the GmyRat AAU Tournament in Albany, New York for the past four summers. 

Swirka graduated from UMass Amherst with a Bachelor's of Science in Physical Education/Exercise Science, and received his Masters in Business Administration from Suffolk University.
