BRIGHTON, Mass. (Sept. 28, 2026) – The UMass Boston Beacons field hockey team dropped a 7-0 decision to the Simmons University Sharks in non-conference action on Monday evening at Daly Field in Brighton.
UMass Boston is 0-8 on the year, while Simmons is 1-8.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Goalie
Elizabeth Crowley (Medfield, Mass.) faced immediate pressure from the Simmons attack and made two saves in the first four minutes of the game. The Sharks then scored two goals in a span of 2:25 and added a third later in the quarter.
In the second period,
Delaney Williams (Duxbury, Mass.) had a pair of shots turned away by Simmons goalie Jamila Mohamed and the hosts took a 4-0 lead into halftime.
The Sharks went on to tally two goals in the third period and one in the fourth.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
Williams continued to provide a dangerous attacking presence for the Beacons with three shots including two on cage.
Jenna Smolinski (East Aurora, N.Y.) made a season-high 11 saves in 30 minutes of action, while Crowley recorded eight saves of her own. Elsewhere for UMass Boston,
Meghan Krockta (Taunton, Mass.) added her third defensive save of the season.
Head coach Kellie Stigas' team registered four shots and seven penalty corners in the contest.
Three different players scored two goals apiece for Simmons.
