CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (Sept. 23, 2026) – First year Bryan Norena (Revere, Mass.) scored his first career goal as the UMass Boston Beacons men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 road contest at MIT on Wednesday night at Roberts Field.

The Beacons are now 3-3-1 on the season, while MIT is 2-3-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
MIT grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the fifth minute as Woods Windham found the back of the net after a feed from Jonah Gurion. The Engineers continued to threaten and Gurion added a goal in the 25^th minute to extend the advantage to 2-0. From there, the Beacons had a late corner kick opportunity and shot in the waning minutes of the half, but the game remained 2-0 for the time being.

In the second half, UMass Boston mounted pressure offensively and had consecutive chances after a corner kick in the 65^th minute. Following an Engineers' goal in the 70^th minute, Norena got one back for the Beacons less than three minutes later that cut the deficit to 3-1.

Parker Hamilton (Lexington, Mass.) and Idman Hodzic (Bosnia & Herezgovina) had scoring attempts in the final 15 minutes of the match as UMass Boston continued to work on a comeback kid before ultimately falling short.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
MIT held a slight 15-12 advantage in shots and Gabriel Jordao (Bellingham, Mass.) led the Beacons with two on the night.

JJ Devine (Halifax, Mass.) tallied three saves across 72 plus minutes of action, while Mario Hajhdi (Ilioupoli, Greece) made one save over the final 17:40.

The Beacons will host Keene State in a Little East Conference clash on Saturday, Sept. 26 with action slated to begin at 12 p.m.
