MILTON, Mass. (Sept. 19, 2026) – The UMass Boston Beacons women's tennis team won five of the six singles matches and notched a 6-1 victory over the Plymouth State Panthers in Little East Conference action on Saturday at the Milton Academy Tennis Courts.
UMass Boston improves to 4-1 (2-0 LEC), while Plymouth State drops to 3-2 (1-1 LEC).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The duo of
Zainab Patel (Ahmedabad, India)/
Tatiana Malone (South Dennis, Mass.) notched a 6-3 victory in first doubles action and
Karina Khalsa (South Yarmouth, Mass.)/
Delilah Castro (Horizon City, Texas) added a 6-4 win in second doubles to clinch the early lead for the Beacons.
Patel swept the Panthers' Chloe Ahern 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and Malone registered a 6-1, 6-3 win against Lauryn Corrigan in No. 2 singles.
Mila Pipkin (Bradenton, Fla.) captured a 6-1, 6-4 decision in third singles play for the Beacons.
Khalsa notched a 6-2, 7-5 victory in No. 4 singles and rounding out the singles winners was Castro with a 6-2, 6-3 win in No. 5 singles.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
Castro remained a perfect 5-0 on the season in singles play.
UMass Boston has now defeated Plymouth State in their last five meetings and seven of the last eight overall.
