BOSTON, Mass. (Sept. 19, 2026) — The UMass Boston Beacons (2-3-2, 1-0 LEC) sunk the Rhode Island College Anchorwomen 2-0 at the James Cotter Field behind a dominant two-goal performance from Daniella Celotto (Prospect, Conn.) and a steady four-save shutout from goalkeeper Janiya Morales Matier (North Easton, Mass.).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Celotto wasted little time, putting the Beacons ahead in the seventh minute when Devan Booth (Manchester, N.H) found her in space off the corner delivery. Celotto finished high left to open the scoring. The junior midfielder doubled the advantage just before halftime, taking a pass from Madi Pittman (Colorado Springs, Colo.) before dribbling through three defenders to find the back of the net in the 40th minute, sending UMass Boston into the break with a commanding 2-0 lead. The Beacons held that margin through 90 minutes, never allowing Rhode Island College to find an answer.
Celotto finished with two goals on five shots — three on target — in 77 minutes, a breakout performance that marked her fourth, and fifth career goals at UMass Boston. Pittman, coming off the bench in the 34th minute, recorded her first career assist at the collegiate level. Booth, who set up the game-winning opener, played 76 minutes and added a shot of her own before being substituted.
Morales Matier was equally composed between the posts, making four saves to earn the clean sheet. Her most important stop came in the 84th minute, when she denied a Leah Saunders free-kick attempt to preserve the shutout. Rhode Island College generated eight shots on the afternoon and placed four on frame, but the Beacons' back line — anchored by Camryn Trick (Sammamish, Wash.) and Mia Carvalho (Ludlow, Mass.), both of whom played the full 90 minutes — gave the visitors little room to work.
UMass Boston held a 3-1 edge in corner kicks and committed seven fouls to Rhode Island College's five, with neither team receiving a card.
