NEWTON, Mass. (Sept. 18, 2026) — UMass Boston fell to the University of Maine-Farmington, 5-3, at home on Friday, but the Beacons turned in their most complete offensive performance of the year in the program's inaugural campaign.
The Beacons are now 0-5 on the season, while the Beavers are 2-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
UMass Boston put together its best offensive showing of the young season against Maine-Farmington, finding the back of the cage three times after being held scoreless in three of its first four contests. Alexis D'Angelo (Monroe, Conn.) supplied the offensive spark, netting two goals — one unassisted and one off an assist from Molly Fote (Houston, Tex.) — to account for four of the Beacons' six points on the day. Kayla Mullin (Phillipsburg, NJ) added UMass Boston's second goal of the game, finishing a feed from Meghan Krockta (Taunton, Mass.) for her first score of the 2026 season. Despite the three-goal effort, Maine-Farmington answered with five goals of its own, holding a 22-11 advantage in shots and a 10-7 edge in penalty corners to secure the victory.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
Three goals marked a season high for UMass Boston, surpassing the program's previous best set Sept. 1 at Mount Holyoke College. D'Angelo's two-goal performance was the first multi-goal game by a Beacon; she now leads the team with three goals and six points through five games. Fote and Krockta each own one assist, tied for the team lead. The seven penalty corners UMass Boston generated also set a new season high, topping the previous mark of five recorded Sept. 9 at Regis College.
In goal, freshman Jenna Smolinski (East Aurora, NY) and senior Elizabeth Crowley (Medfield, Mass.) split the duties, with Smolinski recording a pair of saves, and Crowley stopping five shots on goal.
