BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (Sept. 22, 2026) –
Ava Bussiere (Phillipston, Mass.) and
Delaney Williams (Duxbury, Mass.) each tallied their first career goal as the UMass Boston field hockey team dropped an 11-2 decision to Bridgewater State on Tuesday evening at Mazzaferro Field in Bridgewater.
The Beacons are now 0-6 on the season, while Bridgewater State is 4-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Bears scored two goals a minute and a half apart in the first quarter and later added a third before Bussiere scored following a feed from
Ava Duffy (Boston, Mass.) to cut the lead to 3-1 with six seconds remaining.
Bridgewater State added five goals in the second period to extend their advantage prior to halftime.
In the fourth quarter, Williams had her initial shot denied by Bears' goalie Brooke Cannata, but quickly regained her composure and fired home the rebound for her first career goal.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
Williams led all Beacons with four shots including three on cage.
The goalie duo of
Elizabeth Crowley (Medfield, Mass.) and
Jenna Smolinski (East Aurora, N.Y.) each saw 30 minutes of action as Crowley made 11 saves, while Smolinski tallied seven.
Abby Zuber led Bridgewater State with four goals.
