BOSTON, Mass. (Sept. 16, 2026) — The UMass Boston Beacons (1-3-2) rallied from a first-half deficit with a two-goal burst to take a 2-1 lead over Curry College (2-1-2), then fought through the final whistle Wednesday night at James Cotter Field to earn a hard-fought 2-2 draw.
UMass Boston found itself trailing early but refused to fold, answering with one of the most electric sequences of their young season — scoring twice in 22 seconds late in the first half to flip the scoreboard. Camryn Trick (Sammamish, Wash.) equalized in the 39th minute off the free-kick from about 25 yards out, and just 22 seconds later Cloe Kapetanakos (Weymouth, Mass.) buried a shot off an assist from Sam Diaz (Carpentersville, Ill.) to give UMass Boston a 2-1 lead heading into the break.
The Beacons carried that advantage into halftime and continued to press in the second half, though a Curry equalizer in the 76th minute leveled the match at 2-2 — a scoreline that held through the final whistle.
UMass Boston dominated the attack from start to finish, outshooting Curry 15 to 8 on the evening and controlling the tempo for long stretches.
Devan Booth (Manchester, N.H.) led the Beacons with four shots in 70 minutes, consistently threatening and keeping the pressure on throughout.
Trick, the first-year back who sparked the comeback, played the full 90 minutes and finished with two shots on goal, including a dangerous free kick attempt at 85:09 that nearly delivered a late winner.
Kapetanakos played 78 minutes and recorded the shot on goal that gave UMass Boston the lead.
Diaz came off the bench and made an immediate impact, recording the team's lone assist in just 29 minutes of play.
In goal, Leah Skorodumova (Lawrence, N.J.) was steady throughout, making four saves on six shots on goal faced over the full 90 minutes.
The Beacons converted two of their four shots on goal into goals, a testament to their finishing when it mattered most, and UMass Boston's relentless shot volume kept the Curry defense scrambling all evening.
