Beacons Sweep Lesley for Third Straight Win

MILTON, Mass. (Sept. 15, 2026)
– The UMass Boston women's tennis team rolled to a 7-0 victory over the Lesley University Lynx in a non-conference match on Tuesday at the Milton Academy Tennis Courts.

The Beacons improve to 3-0 on the season with the victory and Lesley drops to 1-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

In No. 2 doubles action, the duo of Delilah Castro (Horizon City, Texas) and Karina Khalsa (South Yarmouth, Mass.) notched a 6-0 victory over the Lynx's Emily Laperriere and Hayley Jones. The first year duo of Annabelle Douyon (Wimauma, Fla.) and Aleyna Yilidirim (New York, N.Y.) added a 6-1 victory in No. 3 doubles to clinch the point for the Beacons.

Tatiana Malone (South Dennis, Mass.) registered a thrilling 7-5, 5-7, 10-6 victory over Lesley's Mary O'Sucha in first singles, while Mila Pipkin (Bradenton, Fla.) added a three-set victory of her own (6-4, 2-6, 10-2) at second singles as UMass Boston extended the lead.

The trio of Khalsa, Castro and Yilidirim all posted 6-0, 6-0 sweeps of their respective opponents in third, fourth and sixth singles for head coach Malcolm Neville's team.

Kathy Roqueza (Holyoke, Mass.) claimed a 6-0, 6-1 win against the Lynx's Veronika Yufereva in No. 5 singles as the Beacons remained unbeaten on the young season.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
This marks the second time in three seasons that UMass Boston has started 3-0 following a 4-0 start during the 2024-25 campaign.

UP NEXT:
The Beacons return to the courts tomorrow (Wednesday, Sept. 16) at Simmons University with first serve scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
