CASTLETON/MIDDLEBURY, Vt. (May 9, 2026) – UMass Boston (27-13, LEC Tournament) saw its 2026 season come to a close at the Little East Conference Tournament in Middlebury, Vt., dropping a pair of games on Saturday — falling 4-3 to No. five seed Rhode Island College in Castleton, Vt., before being eliminated by No. two seed UMass Dartmouth, 10-1.
How It Happened:
- In Game One against Rhode Island College, the Beacons and Anchorwomen were locked in a scoreless battle through four innings before RIC broke through with three runs in the bottom of the fifth. A double by Noelle Simmons plated the first run, a single by Sophia Crudale added another, and a sacrifice fly from Joey Meyer pushed the lead to 3-0. UMass Boston responded in the sixth when Hayley Krockta (Taunton, Mass.) launched a two-run home run to center field, her fifth of the season, scoring Lauren Miner (Millbury, Mass.) to cut the deficit to 3-2. Rhode Island College answered in the bottom of the sixth with an unearned run to push back to 4-2. In the seventh, Avery Weinstein (Winnekta, Ill.) reached on a throwing error and Izzy Levasseur (Amesbury, Mass.) singled up the middle to plate her, pulling the Beacons within one at 4-3, but UMB could not complete the comeback, stranding the tying run to fall 4-3.
- In Game Two against UMass Dartmouth, UMass Boston struck first as Miner tripled through the right side in the top of the first and came home on a double by Krockta for a 1-0 lead. The Corsairs responded with a vengeance, plating two in the first, two more in the second on a two-run double by Olivia Silva, and an additional run in the third on a Lily Routhier single. UMass Dartmouth continued to pile on with two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth — the latter capped by a three-run double from Routhier — to pull away for a 10-1 final and eliminate the Beacons.
By the Numbers:
