Beacons Drop Back-and-Forth Road Contest with Corsairs

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (April 7, 2026) – UMass Boston Baseball (13-10, 3-2 Little East Conference) dropped a 14-13 decision at UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday, falling in a back-and-forth conference battle despite building an eight-run lead. It marked the Beacons' first loss this season when scoring double-digit runs.

How it Happened:

UMass Boston erupted for four runs in the third inning and six more in the fourth to build a 10-2 advantage, capitalizing on timely hitting, aggressive baserunning, and four UMass Dartmouth errors. Nick Farnacci (Farmingdale, N.Y.) was a catalyst at the top of the lineup, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored, reaching base in each plate appearance. Brandon Gaer (Rocky Hill, Conn.) drove in two with a single up the middle in the third and added a sacrifice fly in the fourth, finishing with three RBI.

UMass Dartmouth began chipping away with a sacrifice fly in the fifth and a five-run sixth — capped by a two-run home run from Luc Nivaud — to cut the deficit to 10-8. The hosts tied it at 10 in the seventh with RBI singles from Jake San Antonio and Jayden Cruz.

UMass Boston answered in the top of the eighth, scoring three times to retake a 13-10 lead. Ben Sherry (Fall River, Mass.) delivered an RBI walk, Ryan Slack (Derby, Conn.) followed with an RBI single, and Jayden LaFleur (Dighton, Mass.) added a run-scoring fielder's choice.

UMass Dartmouth responded with four runs in the bottom half. Sam Bradford's two-run homer pulled the hosts within one, and RBI singles from Jake San Antonio and Conner McNamara completed the comeback at 14-13.

By the Numbers:

  • Farnacci went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, one RBI, one walk, one hit by pitch, and a stolen base, reaching base five times in six plate appearances.
  • Gaer was 1-for-3 with a run, three RBI, a walk, and a sacrifice fly.
  • Cole Bissaillon (Great Barrington, Mass.) went 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles and two runs scored.
  • LaFleur added two hits, one run, and two RBI in five at-bats.
  • Breon Parker Jr. (Springfield, Mass.) contributed two RBI and two runs scored.
  • The Beacons drew six walks and were hit by two pitches.
  • UMass Boston pitching combined for seven strikeouts.
