Baseball Swept in Little East Conference Doubleheader at Rhode Island College

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (April 18, 2026) – UMass Boston baseball (16-14, 5-5 Little East Conferece) was swept in a Little East Conference doubleheader on Saturday, falling 4-2 and 12-9 to Rhode Island College at Pontarelli Field.

Game 1: RIC 4, UMass Boston 2

Rhode Island College's four-run second inning proved to be the difference. CJ Almagno sparked the frame with a solo home run, and the Anchormen added three more runs on RBI singles by Brady Zadora and Eric Wilson and a sacrifice fly by Aiden Bolwell to take a 4-0 lead.

Paden Larkins (Shelton, Conn.) scored on a Brandon Gaer (Rocky Hill, Conn.) groundout to make it 4-1 in the fifth inning. Nick Farnacci (Farmingdale, NY) capped the scoring with an RBI single in the sixth.

Farnacci finished 3-for-5 to lead the offense. Alex Meesig (Nashua, NH) was sharp in relief, retiring all four batters he faced with three strikeouts. Larkins drew three walks and scored the Beacons' lone run without recording an at-bat.

Game 2: RIC 12, UMass Boston 9

UMass Boston built a 5-2 lead through four innings, but Rhode Island College rallied with a five-run fourth and never looked back. The Anchormen scored in every inning from the third through the eighth to pull away for a 12-9 win.

Gaer led the offense with four RBIs, including a two-run double in the eighth that briefly cut the deficit to 11-9. Breon Parker jr. (Springfield, Mass.) and Dylan Agvent (Orange, Conn.) each went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
