Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Beacons Fall to Unbeaten Bowdoin

BRUNSWICK, Maine (April 11, 2026) — UMass Boston men's lacrosse (6-6, 3-1 Little East Conference) fell to No. 1 Bowdoin College 25-4 on Saturday afternoon at Whittier Field, but the Beacons responded with four unanswered goals to open the second half against the nation's top unbeaten program.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Bowdoin's high-powered offense set a fast pace from the opening faceoff, building a 9-0 lead after the first quarter and extending it to 18-0 by halftime. UMass Boston goalkeeper James Boldy (Franklin, Mass.) kept the Beacons in striking distance of respectability throughout, making save after save against one of Division III's most prolific attacks.

The Beacons came out of halftime with a new sense of urgency. Cole Allan (Falmouth, Maine.) struck just 36 seconds into the third quarter on a feed from Matthew Konareski (Guilford, Conn.), and Jaden Cronin (East Bridgewater, Mass.) answered unassisted just 24 seconds later to give UMass Boston back-to-back goals and a spark of momentum. Brayden MacLean (Stow, Mass.) capped the third quarter with his 13th goal of the season, assisted by Allan, and Jack Schartner (Bolton, Mass.) opened the fourth just six seconds in on a Matt Hutchings (Mount Kisco, N.Y.) feed to bring the Beacons' final tally to four — matching Bowdoin's combined output over the same two periods.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • Boldy went the full 60 minutes in goal, turning aside 22 shots against a Bowdoin offense that generated 47 shots on cage.
  • Allan led the Beacons with a goal and an assist, while MacLean, Cronin, and Schartner each scored. Hutchings and Konareski each added an assist.
  • UMass Boston generated 36 shots and put 15 on cage, with their most active offensive stretch coming in the third quarter (15 shots),
