BOSTON, Mass. (April 1, 2026) – UMass Boston Baseball (10-8, 3-1 Little East Conference) delivered a commanding home performance on a gloomy Wednesday afternoon, defeating Nichols 12-1 in a non-conference matchup at Monan Park. The Beacons rode a five-run sixth inning and a masterful start from Ryan Wunsch (South Windsor, Conn.) to improve their home record to 6-2 and notch their eighth double-digit scoring game of the year.
How it Happened:
UMass Boston jumped ahead early as Elliot Miles (Portsmouth, N.H.) scored on an RBI single from Brandon Gaer (Rocky Hill, Conn.) in the first.
After tacking on individual runs in the fourth and fifth, the Beacons blew the game wide open with a five-run outburst in the sixth, sparked by Miles' two-RBI triple to left and a string of Nichols' errors. UMass Boston sent 12 batters to the plate in that inning alone, capitalizing on the Nichols error to go up 8-0. The Beacons weren't done, as a sacrifice fly from Wes Sturrup (Rochester, N.Y.) made it 9-1 in the seventh. In the eighth, Dylan Kennedy-Fujah (North Branford, Conn.) knocked in two with a single before Gaer capped the scoring with an RBI hit-by-pitch. Wunsch kept Nichols off balance all afternoon, scattering two hits and one run over seven innings before Connor Curtis (Mansfield, Mass.) finished with a scoreless eighth.

• Wunsch picked up the win, tossing 7.0 innings with two hits, one earned run, three walks and three strikeouts on 88 pitches.
• Gaer and Kennedy-Fujah each drove in two runs; Gaer recorded an RBI single and was also hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
