BOSTON, MASS. (March 7, 2026) -- UMass Boston women's lacrosse (0-3) continued its early-season non-conference slate Saturday afternoon with a 13-5 effort against Suffolk University (1-2) from the Sweeney Field in Boston, MA. The Beacons battled through stretches of defensive pressure and turnover woes but showcased bright spots in draw controls and individual efforts from veterans and underclassmen alike.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Jamie McAleavey (Quincy, Mass.) netted the game's first goal with a solo strike in the opening moments of the game, striking life into the Beacons' offense. Suffolk responded with four unanswered goals to close out the first quarter.
The Rams added three additional goals to open the second quarter as they developed on their opening momentum. Senior midfielder Teresa Sheedy (Quincy, Mass.) added the Beacons' second goal of the game just before the conclusion of the half, with her fifth goal of the season. The Beacons entered the halftime break in a 7-2 hole.
After the break, the Beacons looked to steady their attack and found the net with Emily Pearl (Orleans, Mass.) and McAleavey both scoring in the third quarter. However, Suffolk responded quickly and pushed the advantage to seven by quarter's end, capitalizing on free position chances and UMass Boston turnovers.
The fourth quarter saw both sides exchange man-up goals, with Ava Duffy (Boston, Mass.) tallying her first of the day, and team-leading seventh of the season, but Suffolk's early cushion proved insurmountable as the Beacons drop a hard fought effort on the road.
