NASHUA, N.H. (March 31, 2026) – UMass Boston (10-4, 1-1 LEC) delivered one of its most complete performances of the season, sweeping a doubleheader at Rivier with a commanding 15-5 run-rule win in five innings and an 8-0 shutout in the nightcap. Aggressive baserunning, explosive hitting and lights-out pitching powered the Beacons.
How It Happened:
Game one saw the Beacons set season highs for runs (15), hits (16) and stolen bases (seven) in a five-inning offensive showcase. Hayley Krockta (Taunton, Mass.) opened the scoring with a two-RBI single in the first, and the Beacons broke out for eight runs on eight hits in the fourth inning—a season-best frame featuring RBI contributions from six different players. Lauren Miner (Millbury, Mass.) punctuated the third with a two-run home run, while Liv Wentworth (Fitchburg, Mass.), Mya Perron (Beverly, Mass.), and Cosette Zito (Woodbridge, Conn.) all recorded multi-hit, multi-RBI games. Izzy Levasseur (Amesbury, Mass.) earned the win with a five-inning complete game, allowing only two earned runs.
In game two, the Beacons leaned on the right arm of Lauryn Meade (Hanson, Mass.), who spun a seven-inning shutout with a season-high 10 strikeouts. UMass Boston's bats surged late, scoring seven of eight runs in the final three innings. Wentworth broke the scoreless tie in the fourth with a groundout RBI, while Sofie Richland (Burlington, Vt.) delivered a two-run single in the sixth. Mary Matthews (Wilsonville, Ore.) tripled home a run in the fifth, and Miner stole four bases to power a relentless running game. Three runs in the seventh, fueled by wild pitches and an error, sealed the sweep.
