Baseball Falls to Western New England

AUBURNDALE, Fla. (March 13, 2026) – UMass Boston Baseball (2-4) continued its RussMatt Baseball schedule Thursday, falling 13-1 to Western New England in a seven-inning neutral-site contest at Lake Myrtle Main.

How it Happened

UMass Boston found itself in an early hole, trailing 1-0 after the second inning and 4-0 through three, but continued to compete as Western New England extended its lead. The Golden Bears' biggest burst came in the fourth inning, highlighted by a three-run double from Alex Grenier. Despite the challenging scoreline, the Beacons kept battling and got on the board in the fifth when Nicolas Piscioniere (Shelton, Conn.) scored on a wild pitch, with first-year Ben Sherry (Fall River, Mass.) advancing into scoring position on the play.
