Women's Basketball Rallies for 66-58 Conference Win

DANBURY, CT -- UMass Boston Women's Basketball delivered a statement on the road Wednesday night, storming back with a dominant fourth quarter to defeat Western Connecticut State 66-58 in a crucial Little East Conference contest. The Beacons improved their record to 12-9, outscoring the Wolves 24-14 in the final period and capitalizing on relentless defensive pressure.

Western Connecticut State controlled the early stages, leading 17-13 after the first quarter and holding a 32-28 advantage at the break. The hosts maintained a slim 44-42 edge heading into the fourth, but UMass Boston flipped the script down the stretch. The Beacons forced a barrage of turnovers, turning defense into offense and swinging the momentum with key plays on both ends of the floor.

The turning point came just seconds into the fourth quarter when Madison Haggett sank a go-ahead layup assisted by Ashleigh Lagor, giving the Beacons a lead they would never relinquish. UMass Boston forced 36 turnovers, collected 23 steals and converted those extra possessions into 32 points, while also dominating the paint with a 38-26 scoring advantage inside. The Beacons' bench chipped in with 19 points, and the game saw three ties and three lead changes before UMass Boston pulled away in the closing minutes.

Madison Haggett paced the attack with 22 points on 9-of-16 shooting, adding six rebounds and a key fourth-quarter bucket to seal the victory. Ashleigh Lagor delivered 13 points, five steals, four rebounds and was nearly automatic at the line, hitting five of six free throws. Hialeah Turner-Foster contributed 13 points and four steals, going a perfect 6-for-6 at the stripe, while Sabanna Berrios tallied 11 points, five rebounds and four steals off the bench. Jordis Tautalatasi guided the offense with a team-high four assists.
