UMass Boston Surrenders Two-Goal Lead in Little East Tie

Boston, Mass. (Feb. 20, 2026) — The UMass Boston men's ice hockey team battled Keene State to a 2-2 tie Friday night in a Little East Conference game at the Edward T. Barry Ice Rink. 

After a scoreless first period, the Beacons broke the deadlock late in the second. Michael Lynch scored his first goal of the night at 13:55, with assists from Chris Repmann, to give UMass Boston a 1-0 advantage heading into the final frame. 

UMass Boston extended its lead to 2-0 at 7:19 of the third period when Dylan Robbins found the back of the net, assisted by Pavit Mehra. However, the Owls mounted a comeback. Marcus Chrisafideis scored less than a minute later to cut the lead in half, and Sean McBride netted the equalizer at 11:46. A five-minute overtime period yielded no winner, resulting in the official tie. 

The Beacons (13-9-2) dominated the offensive zone, outshooting Keene State 50-31, but were stymied by Owls goaltender Ben Skelton, who made 48 saves. Goaltender Alex Koenig finished with 29 saves for the Beacons. The team's defensive effort was highlighted by 20 blocked shots, led by five from Rhett Kodsi

Up Next 

The Beacons are back at home Saturday to close out the regular season against Western Connecticut State. Puck drop is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Edward T. Barry Ice Rink.
