Beacons Erupt for Eight Goals on Senior Day, Topping Plymouth State University 8-1

BOSTON, Mass. (Oct. 24, 2026) — UMass Boston men's soccer (7-5-1, 4-2-1 LEC) turned Senior Day into a celebration for the ages, overwhelming Plymouth State University (6-7-2, 2-5-0 LEC) 8-1 at BC High JV Field behind a season-high eight goals, 46 shots, and a hat trick from first-year midfielder Gabriel Jordao (Bellingham, Mass.) off the bench.

The occasion honored seniors Ryan Doherty (Donegal. IR), John Arruda (Espirito Santo, BR), Patrick Garcia (Brookline, Mass.), Nick Braganca (Beverly, Mass.), Toby Prabhu-Schlosser (Brookline, Mass.), and William Martinez (Lynn, Mass.), along with fifth-year players JJ Devine (Halifax, Mass.) and Ryan Lima (Minas Gerais, BR.) — and nearly every one of them left a mark on the scoresheet.

Doherty opened the scoring, Garcia and Arruda added goals, Prabhu-Schlosser and Braganca contributed assists, Lima found the net in the second half, and Martinez closed out the match in goal, making the afternoon as complete a Senior Day performance as the program could have scripted.

The Beacons wasted no time establishing control. In the 12th minute, Doherty struck low left off an assist from Prabhu-Schlosser to give UMass Boston a 1-0 lead. Garcia doubled the advantage in the 19th minute, finishing low center off a feed from Rafael Gross (Minas Gerais, BR.). Arruda made it three in the 26th minute, converting low right off a pass from first-year midfielder Pedro Moraes (Boston, Mass.). Jordao, entering the match at 29:03, capped a dominant first half in the 35th minute, finishing low left off an assist from junior forward Idman Hodzic (Bosnia & Herezgovina) to send the Beacons into the break ahead 4-0.

The second half was no less relentless. Lima extended the lead to 5-0 in the 54th minute, finishing low right off an assist from Arruda. Jordao struck again in the 69th minute — low left, assisted by Braganca just moments after the senior entered the match — to make it 6-0. Braganca then got on the scoresheet himself in the 74th minute, converting low right off an assist from Jordao to push the margin to 7-0. Jordao completed his hat trick in the 78th minute, finishing low right off a second assist from Moraes to cap an extraordinary 39-minute cameo. Plymouth State's Nick Ferro pulled one back in the 90th minute off a corner kick sequence, assisted by Christian Torres, but the result was never in doubt.

UMass Boston outshot Plymouth State 46-9 overall and 23-6 on goal. Devine made four saves while keeping a clean sheet through 76 minutes before Martinez took over to close out the match. The Beacons held a 9-2 edge in corner kicks and committed just seven fouls to Plymouth State's 11. The win improves UMass Boston to 7-5-1 overall and 3-2-1 in Little East Conference play, extending the Beacons' winning streak to four consecutive matches.

The eight goal outing from the Beacons is the most amount of goals scored by the team in a single game since October 2 of 2021, when the Beacons routed Marymount University 8-0.
