KEENE, N.H. (Oct. 10, 2026) – Five different players tallied five plus kills and the UMass Boston Beacons volleyball team notched a 3-0 sweep of the Keene State Owls in Little East play on Saturday afternoon at Spaulding Gymnasium in Keene.
The Beacons are now 11-7 (3-0 LEC) on the year, while the Owls are 7-8 (2-2 LEC).
UMass Boston is one of two unbeaten teams in conference play along with UMass Dartmouth who is also 3-0.
Set One (25-19, UMB)
The Beacons held a pair of one-point leads at 11-10 and 13-12 before three straight points extended the lead to 16-12. Keene State was unable to get any closer than three the rest of the way and the visitors took advantage of consecutive attack errors to seal the 25-19 victory.
Set Two (25-20, UMB)
Nine of the first 11 points went the way of the Owls, but UMass Boston came all the way back and used a 10-point run en route to a 16-11 edge. Junior
Addie Blomgren (Riverside, Ill.) tallied three kills during the run and the Beacons led by no less than two through the remainder of the set in the 25-20 win.
Set Three (25-18, UMB)
In the third set, Keene State held an early 8-5 lead before seven straight Beacons points including three kills by
Kaitlyn Leberstien (Wilmington, Del.) made it 12-8. The afore-mentioned run gave the Beacons the lead for good and an
Ashlee Wudi (Brookfield, Ill.) kill sealed the match.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
Leberstien led the balanced attack with 10 kills, while Blomgren added eight to go along with a .313 hitting percentage.
Paige Coulson (Marriottsville, Md.) recorded seven kills of her own,
Josie Becker (Westchester, Ill.) had six and
Mya Perron (Beverly, Mass.) tallied five.
Audrey Cofield (Ypsilanti, Mich.) registered a double-double with 20 assists and 10 digs and Blomgren notched four solo blocks to go along with four block assists.
Elsewhere for UMass Boston, Wudi recorded double-digit digs for the fifth straight match with 11.
