PLYMOUTH, N.H (Oct. 10, 2026) – The UMass Boston Beacons field hockey team (0-11, 0-2 LEC) dropped a 7-1 decision to the Plymouth State Panthers (3-9, 2-0 LEC) in Little East Conference action on Saturday at Panther Field in Plymouth.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Plymouth State created offensive chances early in the game and goalie
Jenna Smolinski (East Aurora, N.Y.) registered three saves within the first two minutes for the Beacons. The Panthers added four goals later in the first quarter to take an early 4-0 lead.
Smolinski continued to stand tall with four more saves in the second quarter, but Plymouth State took a 5-0 advantage into halftime.
In the fourth quarter,
Emily Russo (Cumberland, R.I.) had her scoring chance denied with a defensive save by the Panthers' Alex Zaino. Less than a minute later,
Molly Fote (Houston, Texas) found the back of the cage for her first career goal following a feed from
Delaney Williams (Duxbury, Mass.).
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
Fote, Russo and
Campbell Lambert (Rumford, R.I.) all recorded one shot apiece for UMass Boston.
Smolinski tallied a season-high 13 saves in 30 minutes of action and
Elizabeth Crowley (Medfield, Mass.) added nine of her own in the second half.
Lexi Berrettini had a hat trick to lead Plymouth State.
