Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Beacons Ground Owls

Boston, Mass. (January 24, 2026) — The UMass Boston men's basketball team earned its eighth Little East Conference victory of the season with a 93–80 win over Keene State on Saturday, maintaining its hold on first place in the LEC standings.

Keene State opened the game with a 6–0 run and held the advantage until the 10:54 mark of the first half, when Carson Meczywor knocked down a three-pointer to give the Beacons their first lead at 15–14. The Owls quickly responded with six straight points, but UMass Boston answered again behind a jumper from Cameron Perkins to regain the lead at 24–23 with 6:12 remaining.

A Skyler Venezia basket followed by a Davon Sanders three-pointer pushed the Beacons' advantage to six at the five-minute mark. Venezia later connected from beyond the arc to extend the lead to nine, and UMass Boston headed into halftime up 40–35.

Perkins led all scorers in the first half with 12 points, while Raphel Laurent added 11. Venezia and Sanders each chipped in seven points, and Perkins anchored the defense with two blocks.

Meczywor opened the second half with a basket, and the Beacons steadily built their lead to double digits just under the 10-minute mark. UMass Boston stretched its advantage to as many as 22 points when Laurent finished a fast-break layup to make it 79–57. Keene State continued to battle, but the Beacons never allowed the Owls to close within 10 points, securing the 93–80 victory.

Laurent led all scorers with 29 points on 8-of-15 shooting, including 3-for-5 from three-point range. Perkins played all 40 minutes and finished with 25 points, a team-high seven rebounds, three blocks, and two assists. Defensively, the Beacons forced 14 Keene State turnovers and converted them into 23 points.
