BOSTON, Mass. (Jan. 10, 2026) — The UMass Boston Beacons women's ice hockey team (8-4-1, 4-2-0 LEC) scored a season-high five goals in a 5-1 win over Salem State (4-8-1, 3-1-1 MASCAC) on Saturday at the Edward T. Barry Ice Rink in non-conference action.
Gianna Skrelja (South Lyon, Mich.) opened the scoring for the Beacons halfway through the first period on the power play, assisted by Cassidy Morrison (Fairbanks, Alaska), giving UMass Boston a 1-0 lead. UMass Boston held the advantage in shots on goal, 9-1, with Leah Bosch (Minnetonka, Minn.) stopping the Vikings' lone shot.
Early in the second period, Grace Lynch (West Roxbury, Mass.) netted her first collegiate goal, with the assist from Maggie Lynch (Quincy, Mass.), extending the Beacons' lead to 2-0. Two minutes later, Mia Boyd (Buffalo, N.Y.) tallied her first goal of the season, with Rae Alexander (Georgia, Vt.) and Aisling McFadden (Erie, Pa.) recording assists to put UMass Boston up 3-0.
Less than a minute into the third period, Adrianna Kelsch (Bourne, Mass.) put UMass Boston up 4-0, with Morrison and Boyd contributing assists. Salem State responded with their lone goal of the contest at the 4:05 mark. McFadden added to the Beacons' advantage at the 11:17 mark with assists from Alexander and Avery Brooks (Grosse Ile, Mich.), securing the 5-1 win.
UMass Boston outshot the Vikings 28-11, with Bosch stopping 10. Alexander won all eight of her faceoff draws as UMass Boston held the 34-15 advantage.
