ONEONTA, N.Y. (September 6, 2025) – Three different Beacons found the back of the net as the UMass Boston men's soccer team (2-0-2) secured its second consecutive victory with a 3-1 win over Hartwick College (1-2) at Elmore Field.
The Beacons struck first in the 25th minute when Parker Hamilton (Lexington, Mass.) played a ball forward to senior midfielder Ryan Lima (Minas Gerais, Brazil), who sent him down the right wing in stride. Lima's left-footed cross found Patrick Garcia (Brookline, Mass.) on a perfect run, and Garcia tapped home his first goal of the season and the fifth of his career.
Hartwick pulled level just before halftime, as Hunter Bulich converted with under 10 seconds remaining to send the teams into the break tied 1-1. Both sides entered the half deadlocked with four shots and three corners apiece.
The Beacons quickly regained momentum just 2:30 into the second half. Pedro De Amorrortu (Buenos Aires, Argentina) whipped in a cross from the left wing looking for Lima, but a Hartwick defender's attempted clearance deflected into the net for Amorrortu's first goal of the year off the own-goal deflection.
UMass Boston's third tally was an early goal-of-the-year candidate from sophomore standout Eduardo Chirico (Minas Gerais, Brazil). With one defender to beat on the right wing of the 18-yard box, Chirico cut inside and ripped a left-footed curler that bent just out of the reach of the diving keeper, dipping into the top left corner to cap off a statement win.
The Beacons controlled play throughout the second half, outshooting the Hawks 8-1 and finishing the match with a 12-5 edge in shots. Graduate goalkeeper JJ Devine (Halifax, Mass.) was solid when called upon, recording two saves.
Defensively, Ian Visnick (Beverly, Mass.), Jair Whyte (Saint Johns, A.B.), and Michael Lewis (Wilmington, Mass.) anchored the back line, each logging 90 minutes.
UMass Boston continues its New York road trip on Sunday, September 7, when they face SUNY Oneonta at 2:30 p.m.
