Men’s Soccer Flexes Offensive Efficiency Against Bridgewater State

BOSTON, MA (September 29, 2025) – A three-goal first half fueled UMass Boston men's soccer (5-2-3, 1-0-1 Little East Conference) to a 5-1 non-conference win over Bridgewater State (4-5-0, 2-1-0 MASCAC) on a beautiful Monday afternoon at the B.C High JV Field.

Junior forward Rafael Gross (Minas Gerais, Brazil) opened the scoring in the 15th minute, finishing from the right wing off a feed from senior midfielder Ryan Lima (Minas Gerais, Brazil). Fifteen minutes later, first-year midfielder Gustavo De Paula (Framingham, Mass.) doubled the lead with his first collegiate goal, assisted by Amir Lahkiky (Melrose, Mass.). The Beacons struck again in the 38th minute when first-year Cam Ramos (Hopedale, Mass.) tallied his first collegiate point on an assist to Nick Braganca (Beverly, Mass.), who calmly slotted home to make it 3-0 at halftime. UMass Boston entered the break with a 6-4 edge in shots and five corner opportunities.

Bridgewater State cut the deficit in the 55th minute with Filippo Mucci's third goal of the season, but UMass Boston quickly regained control. Just five minutes later, sophomore Felipe De Andrade (Westborough, Mass.) netted his fourth of the year to restore the three-goal cushion. Lima capped the scoring in the 62nd minute, sealing a 5-1 victory—the Beacons' fourth straight unbeaten match and fourth game this season with four or more goals.

First-year goalkeeper Mario Hajhdi (Illiopolis, Greece) made his collegiate debut, facing 10 shots and recording two saves in a steady performance.

UMass Boston returns to Little East action Saturday (Oct. 4) at 12:00 p.m., visiting Western Connecticut at the BC High JV Fields.
