WORCESTER, Mass. (September 24, 2025) – UMass Boston women's soccer (4-3-1) came up short on the road Wednesday night, falling 3-0 to Worcester Polytechnic Institute (5-2-2) in a non-conference matchup.

The Engineers struck early in the 11th minute on a goal from Katie Adiletta and carried a 1-0 lead into halftime. First-year goalkeeper Janiya Matier (North Easton, Mass.) kept the Beacons in it with three saves in the opening frame, as WPI outshot UMass Boston 6-1.

The Beacons generated more chances in the second half with four shots and two corner kicks, but WPI extended its lead with goals from Maeve Steckley (63') and Madison Shaw (87') to seal the result.

UMass Boston finished with five total shots and three corners, while Matier tallied seven saves in net.

The Beacons return home to James Cotter Stadium on Saturday, September 27, for a 2:30 p.m. Little East Conference matchup against Keene State.
