Aug. 29, 2025 (Boston, Mass.) — UMass Boston Men's Soccer opened the 2025 season with a dominant performance that deserved more than the 0-0 final scoreline.
The Beacons controlled the pace and possession throughout the match, outshooting the visiting Seahawks by a commanding 24-10 margin, including a 7-2 edge in shots on goal. UMass Boston's relentless pressure generated quality chances, particularly in the second half, where they fired off 18 shots.
Ryan Lima (Minas Gerais, Brazil) and John Arruda (Espirito Santo, Brazil) each registered two shots on target to lead the offense, while Eduardo Chirico (Minas Gerais, Brazil), Rafael Gross (Minas Gerais, Brazil), Michael Lewis (Wilmington, Mass.), and Jair Whyte (St. Johns, A.B.) all forced the Salve keeper into action.
After going down to 10 men in the final eight minutes, UMass Boston remained composed defensively and limited Salve to just two shots on goal which JJ Devine (Halifax, Mass.) made easy work of.
