Baseball Concludes Regular Season Against Endicott

BEVERLY, MA (May 4, 2025) – The UMass Boston baseball team (24-15, 12-4 Little East Conference) wrapped up its 2025 regular season on the road against the No. 3-ranked team in NCAA Division III, Endicott College (35-4, 16-0 Commonwealth Coast Conference). The Beacons tallied six runs on 11 hits in a strong offensive showing against one of the nation's top teams, serving as a final tune-up ahead of the Little East Conference Postseason Tournament, which begins Wednesday (May 7).

UMass Boston declared a staff day on the mound, utilizing 11 different pitchers. Max Moss (Manhattan, N.Y.) opened with a scoreless, hitless first inning, while Robert Hjort (Plainville, Mass.) and Jake Silveria (Norfolk, Mass.) closed out the bottom of the eighth.

The Beacons jumped out to a two-run lead in the first inning with back-to-back extra-base hits from Mike Meagher (Marston's Mills, Mass.) and Elliot Miles (Portsmouth, N.H.). Meagher doubled to right center to score Justin Gouveia (Dartmouth, Mass.), followed by a triple from Miles to bring Meagher home, making it 2-0 entering the second inning.

Endicott responded with six unanswered runs, scoring three each in the third and fourth innings to take the lead.

UMass Boston chipped away in the fifth, as Meagher drove in his second RBI of the game with a single to right field, scoring Bostyn Burris (Highland Village, Tex.).

However, the Gulls pulled away with three more runs spread across the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings.

In the top of the eighth, Ryan Slack (Derby, Conn.) came through with a bases-clearing double down the left field line, driving in the final three runs of the day for the Beacons.

UMass Boston went 11-for-38 at the plate, with 17 different players recording at least one at-bat. Meagher led the offensive effort, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored, including the first of three Beacons' doubles. Miles, Nick Farnacci (Farmingdale, N.Y.), and Slack each contributed extra-base hits as well.

Despite the result, the Beacons were out-hit by just one against a top-three team in the nation—an encouraging performance as they head into postseason play.

The Beacons will play their first game of the postseason tournament on Wednesday (May 7) against the LEC fifth-seeded Rhode Island College Anchormen. For more information on the upcoming LEC Tournament, hosted by Keene State in Keene, N.H., visit the Championship Central page HERE.
