BOSTON, Mass. (April 27, 2025) – The UMass Boston baseball team (23-12, 11-4 Little East Conference) celebrated Senior Day with a pair of critical wins over the Eastern Connecticut State Warriors (23-10, 9-4 LEC),to improve to 11-4 in the conference, the most wins by any team to this date. Jacob Levine (Easton, Mass.) launched a three-run homer to lift the Beacons in game one, while the offense unloaded 13 hits in a dominant 9-0 shutout in game two.
Game One: UMB 6 – 4 ECSU
Bullpen leader Ross Dexter (Milton, Mass.) started game one, throwing 5.2 innings against 27 batters and recording a team-high seven strikeouts. Logan Lawrence (Taunton, Mass.) bridged the gap, facing four batters before handing the ball to Thomas Kierce (Cohasset, Mass.), who earned his third unbeaten victory of the year. Kierce struck out four and allowed just one hit over 2.2 shutout innings on 39 pitches.

A solo homer in the second and a three-run blast in the third gave Eastern Connecticut a 4-0 lead.

Reed Burkett-Schneider (Austin, Texas) put the Beacons on the board in the fourth with a two-run single to center, scoring Elliot Miles (Portsmouth, N.H.) and Mike Meagher (Marston's Mills, Mass.) to cut the deficit in half.

Mariano Jimenez (Waltham, Mass.) tagged up on a sacrifice fly by Meagher in the fifth, making it a one-run game.

With two outs in the sixth, Richard Williams (Georgetown, Mass.) and Meagher reached base, setting up Lavine's go-ahead three-run homer — his team-leading sixth of the season, tied for fourth-most in the conference.

Kierce shut the door with a flawless final 2.2 innings to seal the win.

Eight different Beacons recorded hits in an 8-for-32 team performance with two walks.

Game Two: UMB 9 – 0 ECSU
Max Moss (Manhattan, N.Y.) turned in a gem, tossing seven shutout innings and allowing just four hits while striking out five. Angelo Centrone (Bethel, Conn.) and Dowd Ritter (Birmingham, Ala.) combined to finish off the final two scoreless, hitless frames, blanking the Warriors in a 9-0 rout.

The Beacons scored single runs in the first and fourth innings, added two in the second, and exploded for five more in the seventh.

Williams opened the scoring with a groundout RBI in the first.

Burkett-Schneider's double down the right-field line in the second brought home Levine and Miles.

Jimenez knocked in a run in the fourth with a single to right, scoring Levine for his third run of the game, foruth of the day.

In the seventh, RBIs from Burkett-Schneider and Jimenez fueled a five-run outburst. Nick Farnacci (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and Jimenez then executed a double steal, with Jimenez stealing home to cap the scoring.

Levine led the offense with a 3-for-4 showing. Bostyn Burris (Highland Village, Texas), Miles, and Jimenez each added two hits.

Gouveia, Jimenez, and Farnacci each stole a base. Farnacci recorded his 18th steal (in 21 attempts), and Gouveia picked up his 12th (in 13 attempts).

UMass Boston improved to 11-4 in the LEC — the most conference wins by any team as of today — and bolstered an impressive 15-3 home record.
