BOSTON, MA (April 19, 2025) – The Beacons baseball team (21-10, 9-3 Little East Conference) showcased their offensive firepower in a dominant doubleheader sweep of the Rhode Island College Anchormen (8-19, 2-7 LEC) at Monan Park on Saturday afternoon.
UMass Boston combined for four home runs, three doubles, and a triple across both games, while the pitching staff struck out 12 in total as the Beacons continue to hit their stride ahead of the LEC postseason tournament.
Game One: UMB 9 – 1 RIC
Max Moss (Manhattan, N.Y.) delivered a complete-game gem to open the day, allowing just one run on six hits over nine innings, facing 31 batters. The win marked his third of the season in nine appearances.
The Beacons got going early, scoring in two of the first three innings before adding three runs apiece in the fifth and eighth to take full control.
Reed Burkett-Schneider (Dallas, Tex.) opened the scoring in the second with a base knock to left, plating Mariano Jimenez (Waltham, Mass.). In the third, Jimenez and Richard Williams (Georgetown, Mass.) each contributed RBI singles to stretch the lead to 3–0.
A three-run fifth inning featured a two-run triple from Elliot Miles (Portsmouth, N.H.) and an RBI double by Jacob Levine (Easton, Mass.). Williams then capped off the scoring with a three-run homer in the eighth, putting the game fully out of reach.

The Beacons went 12-for-34 at the plate, with seven of ten batters recording a hit. Williams led the offense with a 3-for-5 performance, including his second home run of the season and a team-high four RBIs.

Game Two: UMB 13 – 1 RIC (F/7)
Game two featured another standout pitching performance, this time from Ross Dexter (Milton, Mass.), who tossed five shutout innings. Ross allowed just two hits while striking out five of the 18 batters he faced. Hunter Ward (Nashua, N.H.) closed things out with two innings of relief, giving up one run on one hit and striking out two.
The Beacons struck early with two runs in the first and blew the game open in the third with a seven-run outburst. They would tack on four more runs across the fourth and fifth to enact the run-rule after seven innings.
Miles and Jimenez opened the scoring with RBI singles to right in the first. In the third, Jimenez again drove in the first run, followed by RBI singles from Levine and Burkett-Schneider with the bases loaded to make it 5–0. Brandon Gaer (Rocky Hill, Conn.) added an RBI double before Farnacci launched his first home run of the season—a three-run shot—to push the lead to 9–0.
Williams added his second home run of the day in the fifth, a solo blast to left, before Levine and Burkett-Schneider capped the scoring with RBI singles to reach 13 total runs.
